The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are great features.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also feature a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Best Robot Hoover Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used while you're at work, or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish auto vacuum and mop cleaner that can sweep floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic cleaner and mop vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the competition. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic hoovers vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device which could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable, but it's more expensive and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum mop cleaner robot and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house depending on how dirty those areas tend to be.

If you have a bigger home, you should consider choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice command. A stairway mode is useful if you have a large furniture. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app also gives access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, best robot hoover and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It features an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we've test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
